Water Reservoir Upgrades

The City of Beaumont will be conducting Reservoir Surface Upgrades on top of the main reservoir, located at the intersection of 57 Street & 48 Avenue and as a result, will be decommissioning the existing basketball court on September 16, 2019.

The current roof structure has an asphalt basketball court on top of it without adequate cover, causing undue strain. The roof also requires a membrane to seal the reservoir to the current standard. A structural review of the reservoir will also be completed to look for deformation inside of the holding tank.

The existing Water Reservoir Area, beneath the existing basketball court:

The yellow dotted line represents the area that will separate the main pump-house and reservoir.

Key details:

  • Work is scheduled to start Mid-September and is anticipated to complete in Mid-November (Weather Permitting).
  • During construction, access to the pathway located on the Reservoir Park will not be available for safety reasons.

Please follow all posted signage and be aware of workers and equipment on site. The administration is looking into other options for Basketball Court.

Why are we doing this?

  • Eliminate illegal disturbance of water reservoir concrete cover.
  • Eliminate illegal attempts to open reservoir hatch.
  • The current basketball court has some imperfections. We want to improve safety for residents and basketball court users.
  • Improve Beaumont's facilities.

When are we doing this?

  • Decommissioning of the existing basketball court will begin on September 16, 2019, as the upgrade work on the water reservoir is commenced.
